How can parents help in the learning process with their child?

  1. Ask your child about what’s happening in school.
  2. Homework Expectations- Establish an hour of time each weekday for homework.
  3. Help your child learn to read and “mathematize” for leisure.  Research shows that students who choose to do these activities during their free time are more successful at school.
  4. Make sure that your child is reading at least 20 minutes each day…hopefully more…Review the reading part of the blog…get your child hooked on terrific literature at home!
  5. Encourage your child to do discovery math (YES’s optional math homework activity).
  6. Check in on the blog each month to learn new things about what’s happening at school.
